Solve the divertor.

The exhaust problem, live: a two-point edge model computes the target heat flux and temperature as you change SOL power, flux-channel width, connection length and detachment. Unmitigated, the parallel load is enormous — this is why detachment exists. This is a reduced-order surrogate that SOLPS / BOUT++ retire; it establishes the datum (study H9) rather than reproducing a frozen one.

Honest gate Steady-state tungsten tolerates roughly 10 MW/m² at the target. The two-point model here reduces the parallel flux only by detachment — real flux expansion and plate tilt (which SOLPS / BOUT++ resolve) buy the rest. Gap-closer: no prior anchor; the real edge codes establish the target load (study H9, exhaust & divertor engineering).
